History
[edit | edit source]Prior to the Greyhawk Wars, Admundfort is a bastion of the Knights of Holy Shielding.
The Shield Lands fall to the armies of Iuz during the Greyhawk Wars. In the spring of 584 CY, the armies mount a massive flanking invasion coming down from the north through the Bandit Kingdoms, which are likewise rampaged or overrun.[1] It is evacuated in the face of the impending invasion, and there is almost no resistance.[2] Living Greyhawk capmaign (see below).
Geography
[edit | edit source]
The city occupies a place on the southwesternmost coast of the small Scragholme Isle in the northern waters of the Nyr Dyv.[3]
Cityscape
[edit | edit source]Admundfort's noted skyline features an impressive tower at either end of its city wall, both of which abut the city at either end of the shoreline. They are known as the Sea Keeps (not to be confused with the fortifications of the same name in Aerdiaak (the North Kingdom).
Other than the noted or named locations in the city, it is generally divided into five residential areas, and a military quarter.[4] There are areas where the dwellings of fishermen, commoners, merchants, artisans and the wealthy, and the Rhennee are each found separately.
- Citadel of Holy Shielding—in the center of the city, the grand headquarters of the Knights of Holy Shielding.[5]
- Towers of the Shield Mages
- Armory
- Naval barracks
- the Guilders—the area directly along the Grand Promenade with residences of "many members of the powerful artisans' guilds."[5]
- Temple of Procan
Later, in 585 CY+, there is a particular area of the city where the priests and mages who follow Iuz stay.
- Claw Quarter
