Barrish is a small fishing village on the southern coast of Medegia, about 120 miles south of Mentrey, on the Aerdi shore. It survives the sacking of Medegia after the Greyhawk Wars. The people of the village rely entirely on fishing and subsistence farming to get by.[1]
History
[edit | edit source]The small fishing village does not fare well in the violent sack of Medegia, and is left impoverished. Matters are further complicated by a pirate raid in Flocktime 585 CY, leaving the small village devastated. Things improve somewhat when Overking Xavener takes over the shattered remains of Medegia in 587 CY. The people find strength in numbers, but fear fleeing to the north because of banditry, and their only means of protection is an ill-equipped and poorly-disciplined local levy.[1]

[edit | edit source]In 585 CY, the population of Barrish is roughly 700 individuals and mostly human, though that number is down somewhat due to the war.[1]
Government
[edit | edit source]The village officially falls under the auspices of the Kingdom of Ahlissa after the Wars and the ruler of the city is Prince Alaern, who is a petty minor prince of House Garasteth. He is more than willing to sell out the village to the Scarlet Brotherhood or anyone else but only fails to do so simply because he does not have the proper contacts. He imposes high taxes on the citizenry, and delivers brutal punishments on any who dare break the law.[1]
