Halldrem is a high level priest of Hextor in charge of Bellport, in the North Province of the Great Kingdom. He is appointed by His Radiant Grace Grenell I by 585 CY, mostly due his fierce obedience to the herzog, though that is mostly from fear, and his skill at predicting enemy movements during combat. He is disliked by the people of Bellport because of his overly strict policies and wanton cruelty.
Description
[edit | edit source]Appearance
[edit | edit source]Halldrem is 5' 6" tall and rather fat, with a noticeable and unpleasant body odor. He has brown hair and gray eyes, with ugly facial features.
Personality
[edit | edit source]Halldrem is a bully and a coward. While he considers himself a ladies' man, he also is insecure enough that he goes out of his way to surround himself with junior priest who are uglier than he is to make himself look better in comparison. He tends to hide from and ignore problems when possible, though he has very good tactical sense that "borders on the precognitive[1]" when he bothers to apply it. [1]. This skill does not apply to civic problems, his response to which is simply harder crackdowns, even though that solution is not viable long term. [2].
Religion
[edit | edit source]Halldren is a high level priest of the evil god, Hextor, and holds both civil and religious authority in Bellport, and has a number of junior priests under him[1].
Possessions
[edit | edit source]Halldrem covets magical power, and collects and trades powerful magic items. He is believed to have a libram of ineffable damnation he does not (or cannot) use and wishes to use in trade or barter.[1]
Additionally, he wears magical armor, and regularly wears magical rings and carries several powerful wands.[1].
Relationships
[edit | edit source]Allies and minions
[edit | edit source]Grimkun Threehand is the leader of the orcs who are part of Bellport's defenses and by 585 CY act as the town guard. He is treated well by Halldrem, even allowed to sit in on council meetings, because Halldrem fears offending him and therefore inviting attacks by the unaffiliated orcs living nearby.[2]
