Ironport is a town in the Sea Baronies, and is the main port on the island of Asperd.
Geography and climate
[edit | edit source]Since the coast of Asperd Isle is so rocky, Ironport is the only viable natural harbor.[1] It's located about halfway up the western coast of the island, to the north and slightly to the west of Asperdi.[2]
Cityscape
[edit | edit source]The most prominent feature of the city is the temple to Procan, which is built facing the harbor. The building is adorned with arabesques, symbols of Procan, with a 20-ft statue of Procan himself being the center piece. The walls of the city are nearly 100-ft high, with anchors carved along the bottom, and ropes and chains carved below the battlements [3].The navel quarter is walled off from the rest of the city to avoid the rowdiness of sailors disturbing the other citizens [4].
People
[edit | edit source]The people of Ironport are said to be "thrifty, pragmatic, and (it must be said) relatively humorless souls[5]."
Religion
[edit | edit source]The people of the city mostly worship Procan, an Oeridian god of the sea.
