Livensten is a wizard who has the support and patronage of Lord High Admiral Basmajian, and thus sits on the ruling council in Asperdi, the de facto capital of the Dominion of the Sea Barons
Description
[edit | edit source]Appearance
[edit | edit source]The wizard is only 5'5", with a slim build, brown hair, and hazel eyes. He most frequently looks unkempt and slovenly, even occasionally showing up to council meetings in a partial state of undress because he forgot to put all his clothes on[1]. He suffers from eczema due to improper bathing.
Personality
[edit | edit source]Livensten is obsessed with his research, inventing and tinkering, specializing in instruments that pertain to time and travel. He is quite eccentric, ignoring many social conventions, including hygiene, which makes standing near him in hot weather quite unpleasant. Despite this his inventions are useful enough to earn him the patronage of the Lord High Admiral, and therefore he does not have to worry about making a living [2].
Abilities
[edit | edit source]Religion
[edit | edit source]Though not especially devout himself, Livensten works with priest of Procan on the council, and keeps in his personal library a good amount of sacred lore, including works on the deities Labelas and Lendor.
Possessions
[edit | edit source]Other
[edit | edit source]Livensten is not known for keeping many magical items on his person, but he does wear a ring of protection +3.

[edit | edit source]Inventions
[edit | edit source]Livensten is most widely known and respected for his inventions. The two most well-known and useful being the astrolabe and his folding boat[2]. He has written an almanac giving instructions on how to calculate latitude based on celestial bodies. Together, these have allowed local captains to navigate over the open ocean much more effectively.[1] The folding boat is sought after by ship captains, who are willing to pay handsomely to hire it out for their voyages.[2]
