Atherlea was a peaceful, picturesque halfling town in the western part of The Vale.[1]

History

Altherlea, like the rest of the Vale, was overrun by orcs during the Midsummer Festival of 592 CY, it was not until 594 CY that the town was freed, though refugees and orc raiders are still an issue.[2] The town was destroyed by demonic forces n 598 CY. [3]

Geography

Atherlea is located in The Vale County along Yondalla's Bounty, upriver from Splendorrill.[4][5] The two towns are connected by Longpenny Road.[6]

The people of Atherlea are predominently halfling (85%) and gnomish (10%), though there are a few other species, as well (5%).

Uses the Duchy coinage—platinum sterling duke (pp), gold duke (gp), electrum bright (ep), silver shield (sp), and copper common (cp).[8]

  • House Kaste—Represented by Lord Tredyk Kaste (male human (Suel)) He is a man in his mid-twenties, with blond hair and a neatly kept short beard. Though not particularly sharp-minded, he is affable, well-meaning, and genuinely kind-hearted..[9]
  • House Kruske—Represented by Daneae Kruske (female human(Suel) Clr of Phyton). Danaea is the consummate diplomat, maintaining a calm and gracious demeanor regardless of provocation. A middle-aged woman of noble birth, she carries herselfwith quiet authority and wears the clerical vestments of Phyton, reflecting both her station and devotion.[10]
  • House Meissel—Lidrith Meisse (female human (Suel)) Lidrith is a blonde Suel woman of about thirty, marked by unapologetic ambition and a keen sense of her own importance. She harbors a dismissive attitude toward halflings, whom she regards with thinly veiled condescension.[10]

  • Brindle Bulldog Inn—Owned by Tira Stillwater (female halfling Exp3), the inn only has proper accommodations for small people. [11]
  • Government Square—Open gathering area in the center of town in front of the town hall, the jail, the White Rose Inn, and several homes.[12]
  • Temples
    • Fharlanghn—Run by Tarn the Restless (male halfling Clr4) and the temple is scaled to accommodate humans.[11]
    • Garl Glittergold—Led by Kero Landreckstingferhorlun (male gnome Clr5) and the temple is scaled to accommodate humans.[11]
    • Pelor—Led by Luidra Gaern (female human (Flan/Suel) Clr4) [11]
    • Phyton—Run by Daneae Kruske (female human (Suel) Clr)[11]
    • Yondalla—Led by Marigold Cheever (female halfling Clr9) and the temple is scaled to accommodate humans.[11]
  • The Tree and Tankard—Is a pub only and sized for small people.[11]
  • Veldrik’s General Store—Owned by Veldrik[11]
  • White Rose Inn—The largest Inn in town and can accommodate "big folk" and is next to the Government Square.[12] Owned by Carrow Diens (male Halfling, Exp3).[1]
