The seawolf is a type of shapeshifter whose natural form is that of an animal similar in appearance to a seal or similar creature with the head of a wolf. It is found in the Solnor Ocean, among other places.[1].
Description
[edit | edit source]A seawolf is a chaotic evil lycanthrope that appears as if it were a huge, wolf-headed seal which has fangs filling its mouth. Once infected, a victim changes into a seawolf within 2–5 days, leaving their former life behind and joining a seawolf pack. As opposed to other lycanthropes, seawolves are not affected by the full moon.

[edit | edit source]The sea wolf first appeared in the third set of Monster Cards (1982). The greater seawolf and the lesser seawolf first appeared in the first edition Monster Manual II (1983).[2]
The greater seawolf and lesser seawolf appeared in second edition under the "lycanthrope" heading in Monstrous Compendium, Volume One (1989),[3] and in the Monstrous Manual]] (1993).[4]
The seawolf appeared in third edition in Stormwrack (2005).[5]
