Szeffrin is a duke and high-ranking general in Ivid V's army who is primarily known for his sacking of Almor during the Greyhawk Wars and his frequent dealings with fiends. He was turned into an animus by Ivid.
Description
[edit | edit source]Appearance
[edit | edit source]The duke is absolutely enormous at exactly 7 feet tall, which have led some to speculate that he might have some ogre blood. He has ashen skin, brown eyes, and thick black hair which he keeps neatly cropped. He also fastidiously remains clean shaven. On his forearms, he had two dragon tattoos that he got after slaying two dragons with his magic dragon slaying sword.
Personality
[edit | edit source]Duke Szeffrin is known for his uncontrollable rages, which led many of his human troops especially to be afraid of him. He has managed to curb his rage through daily meditation exercises, but that leaves him "effectively permanently depressed[1]" and he suffers much of the self-loathing that most animuses face and is looking forward to dying at some point, and taking Ivid with him. [1]. He is a gifted commander and strategist, though he cares little for the lives of his men, so long as they're effective. As most of his troops have become undead, this is less of a problem [2].

Possessions
[edit | edit source]Duke Szeffrin has several magical items including plate mail +4 and a shield +3. He also has an intelligent sword and a unique steed.
Sword
[edit | edit source]Szeffrin's sword is a longsword +2, dragon slayer and also an intelligent weapon, with an Int of 17. The weapon grants the wielder x-ray vision, and has the powers of detect good and evil, detect magic, and locate object. Its purpose is to slay creatures of NG alignment, and it has a special purpose power of disintegrate.
Steed
[edit | edit source]His steed is a powerful nightmare, a gift from Pazrael the deamon, and can breath stinking cloud three times a day.
Relationships

[edit | edit source]- Although Duke Szeffrin is one of Ivid V's generals, his overall plan was to march on Rauxes at some point and murder the king for having turned him into an Animus.
- One of the rivals that Szeffrin is most looking forward to killing is Prince Ferrenan of Blacksplinter, though that's mostly for personal reasons.
Allies and minions
[edit | edit source]The most stalwart ally Szeffrin had in his sacking of the lands is the demon Pazael, with whom Szeffrin struck a deal. He cared little for the price he paid, as he intended to die at the end anyway because of his self-loathing and would have been be happy just to let the demons destroy everything to take down Ivid. Pazael provides him with a multitude of fiends for his army. [2]
