- This article is about the adventure. For the Rod itself, see Rod of Seven Parts. For the novel, see The Rod of Seven Parts (novel).
The Rod of Seven Parts is an adventure published by TSR, Inc. in 1996 for second edition. It was written by Skip Williams and is the first in TSR's series of "Tomes" adventures. The Rod of Seven Parts is also the title of a related 1996 Douglas Niles novel. The term is also used to refer to the fictional Rod itself.
The adventure is officially setting-neutral, although Williams authored an article in Dragon magazine in September 1996 suggesting placement and adaptation in the World of Greyhawk campaign setting (and others).
Plot
[edit | edit source]The story focuses on a party of adventurers working to acquire all seven segments of the Rod in sequence. It is written as a sequel to the events described in the previously published supplement Book of Artifacts (1993).[1] The adventure begins with three different potential variant openings, and progresses through various locations such as a cloud giant lair and a pocket dimension guarded by a pit fiend. In the final sequence, the adventurers confront Miska the Wolf-Spider in his prison on the plane of Pandemonium.
