Chokestone is an barren area stripped of all vegetation and covered in cracked slate-like stone. Every seventeen years, a large serpentine cloud of black smoke seeps up out of the ground and stalks across the area for up to three and a half weeks and anyone foolish enough to be in it's path suffers a painful death.

History

The site marks a battle between the Aerdi and a small tribe Ur-Flannae in -171 CY. The Aerdi army won easily and afterwards, their general ordered that any Flan survivors be sacrificed to Erythnul in thanks for their victory. The next day, the vegetation in the area was gone, replaced with the slate-like stone. As soon as the army set foot on the brittle stone, it cracked, releasing thick, oily smoke that killed a full two thirds of the remaining army and left the rest suffering from painful lung infections which led to premature death.

Geography

The afflicted area is just to the south of Bellport, roughly halfway to Luvern.

Resources

The rock from the area can be crushed and used to make dust of sneezing and choaking.
