Fort Karll is a fort in the Duchy of Urnst that houses soldiers to help protect the trade route from bandits.[1]
Description
[edit | edit source]Fort Karll is a simple structure, built against a large rock outcropping with a palisade of tall logs around three sides. The fort consists of barracks that houses 30-40 ducal guards, stables, a smith, and a stockade built into the outcropping.[2]
Geography
[edit | edit source]Fort Karll is located on a trade route from Goldplain to Kokenfeld in Koken County about a days ride to Copper Pot.[1]
History
[edit | edit source]In 593 CY, an epidemic caused by ivory toadstool ravaged the fort, causing all its members to become mentally deranged; exhibiting impulsive, aggressive, violent behavior, and ultimately killing each other and anyone nearby.[1] Though this was a fungal condition, essentially an inhaled poison, it was referred to as a "plague" because the spores were highly transmitable and infectious. There were a few survivors, but the population of the fort was nearly eradicated.
Economy
[edit | edit source]Uses the duchy's standard coinage consisting of the platinum sterling duke (pp), gold duke (gp), electrum bright (ep), silver shield (sp), and copper common (cp).[3]
