Description
[edit source]Stillwater is a village in the Duchy of Urnst[1] that lays along the coastline with a half dozen warehouses clustered around the village’s single pier. Sitting behind them is the village’s tiny business district.
History
[edit source]Stillwater, a struggling village on the brink of collapse, underwent a remarkable transformation three years ago after a sudden crisis. When the mayor died of a heart attack upon learning that Duke Karll Lorinar would pass through, the inexperienced accounting clerk, Sharynne, was thrust into leadership. With help from an exiled merchant, Jeannine, and a gnome farmer, Gibbernick, she quickly organized a grand, deceptive welcome for the Duke. Villagers cleaned the streets, repaired buildings, decorated homes with wildflowers and Sharynne dressed would be guards with a red sash.
The Duke’s brief visit and praise boosted the villagers' morale and self-worth. Inspired, they worked together to improve their community, forming cooperatives and transforming their militia into a respected force. Within six months, Stillwater turned its fabricated charm into a genuine success, entering a period of prosperity through collective effort and determination.
Due to the power conflict between Mayor Sharynne and Lord Breckenridge, the inexperience mayor made a poor decision in accepting bribes from slavers from Iuz which resulted in her being turned to a vampire and allowed the basements of numerous houses to be used as an underground complex by Markessa for slave trade until 594 CY. Lord Brecenridge has since taken over. [2]
