Montesser is a settlement on the east coast of Medegia on the Aerdi Sea, populated chiefly by orcs. It begins as an encampment, but rapidly grows into a proper town, with crops and dairy goats. Despite settling down, these orcs are not pushovers and defend their territory fiercely. [1]
History
[edit | edit source]The town is founded toward the tail end of the Greyhawk Wars, after the sacking of Medegia, when a group of orcs decides that they are sick of war and getting kicked around by bigger orcs, and begin using scavenged materials from all of the ruined villages which were sacked, to bulk-up their encampment and start trying to grow crops. They manage to take a few goats that had been left behind, and go from there. [1]
Sometime in late 584 or early 585 CY, a ship from the Domain of the Sea Barons comes across the settlement and fails to loot it. Being impressed with the defenders, they make peace with the orcs living there and begin trading with them. [1]
Geography
[edit | edit source]The rapidly growing settlement is on the eastern coast of what was once the See of Medegia, to the southeast of Mentrey, but farther north than Barrish.
People
[edit | edit source]Religion
[edit | edit source]There is a priestess of Luthic, the orcish deity of Fertility, Medicine, Females, and Servitude.[1]
Government
[edit | edit source]The village, such as it is, is matriarchal and is led by the local priestess of Luthic.[1]
Economy
[edit | edit source]The village subsists off of some crops, the dairy goats from whose milk they make a variety of cheeses, and two fishing boats. Anything else they need they either scavenge from ruined villages, of which there are many in the area, or gain in trade from the Sea Barons, in exchange for not only food but also information about goings on in the area.[1]
