The Wood Domain of Greyhawk map (also known as The Adventure Begins domain map) is the common name for the cardstock map insert of the Domain of Greyhawk by Sam Wood from The Adventure Begins (1998), published by TSR.
Wood is also known for his City of Greyhawk Map from the interior of the same book.
The map is set in 591 CY.
Description
[edit | edit source]Differences from earlier maps
[edit | edit source]This version's major distinction is that it shows the aftermath of the Greyhawk Wars c.591 CY, and the invasion of forces from the Orcish Empire of the Pomarj north into the Wild Coast, making the border a very short distance from the Domain. There is a "Buffer Zone" shown at the southern end of the Domain of Greyhawk, between it and the Pomarj.
There are a staggering number of small settlements, enclaves, camps, and fortifications added in this map. There are also roads given specific names like the North Route, Marsh Way, Dwarfwalk, and Libernan-Coast Road.
Also, the borders of the domain are expanded to include places like Hardby and Wyvernen, which were previously independent towns. And further southeast across the Abbor-Alz all the way to the edge of the Bright Desert.
